Worcester Paint Festival is appealing for sponsors to provide funds to host the event.

The festival, set for Saturday, September 21, needs additional sponsorship to meet its financial targets.

Financial backing for the festival has already been provided by Worcester City Council, The Elmley Foundation, councillors, and Worcester BID, however, the organisers have yet to meet their goal to realise the event's plans.

The festival aims to bring new, vibrant street art to Worcester, with plans to create three large-scale murals in prominent city locations, such as St Johns and St Peters.

The festival has also proposed to install street art and offer a live wall for emerging artists.

Following consultations with communities via Platform Housing, murals are planned for Dines Green and, potentially, Warndon and canalside locations.

The festival also plans to refresh Cripplegate Park by replacing older artworks that have been on display for many years.

Sponsorship packages are available, ranging from £300 to £2,000, which vary from adding your logo to the festival's website, socials and print, or even sponsoring an artist to create their next piece.

and sponsors will have their logos added to the festival's website, social media channels, and print materials.

The festival organisers promise to promote their sponsors' contributions, who, in return, support independent mural artists.

The festival boasts a growing patronage in the region, having attracted thousands of visitors between 2021 and 2023, with approximately 86 walls painted to date.

Its education into graffiti and street art history, 'Paint the Streets', has seen over 18,000 visitors to Worcester City Museum and Art Gallery.

The festival director, Kate Cox, said: "We planned to scale back this year, partly due to hikes in costs across the industry, forcing difficult decisions for festivals nationwide.

"And partly due to respecting our murals and not totally swamping the city.

"But we want to still bring joy to peoples faces when they discover a new mural, and work more with our wonderful communities.

"We are reaching out to the Worcester public, businesses and organisations for a little help to ensure this can happen.

"Even a small amount all adds up so that we don’t have to call time."
