A BOXER has been stabbed twice in the chest during an alleged bloody knife attack as two men appear in court charged with attempted murder.
Jon DP Shaw suffered 'life-threatening' stab wound injuries to his chest during an alleged knife attack in the car park of an industrial estate in Sherriff Street in Worcester on Saturday morning.
The Worcester News understands that Mr Shaw, a 33-year-old dad-of-one, walked himself, still bleeding from his wounds, up Newtown Road to Worcestershire Royal Hospital's A&E in the aftermath of the incident on Saturday morning.
Medical checks have revealed he suffered a collapsed left lung after a blade went into his chest near his armpit and narrowly missed an artery to his heart.
Despite his serious injuries and multiple attempts to stab him, Mr Shaw is said not to be supporting any prosecution.
The blade involved is understood to be a large kitchen knife and a witness said verbal threats were also made against Mr Shaw during the incident.
As previously reported, Daniel Smith, 36, of Cranham Drive in Warndon, Worcester was charged on Saturday with attempted murder, criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 and possession of a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place.
David Smith, 34, of Raleigh Close, Dines Green, Worcester was also charged on Saturday with attempted murder and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
Both men were remanded in custody when they appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court today (Monday) and are due to appear at Worcester Crown Court on July 1.

One witness, who declined to be named, said: "There was a whole lot of commotion - then I witnessed Jon get stabbed from behind with a large knife. Jon fought both of them off with his bare hands. One man was left unconscious at the scene. What went through my head? Fear."
Mr Shaw is a heavyweight boxer, boxing coach and promoter who lives in Worcester.
We reported in March last year how he tore his chest during a boxing match, an injury which required major surgery.
The heavyweight fighter and anti-knife campaigner won a fight against ex-pro Hastings Rasani by knockout in the second round and suffered the double tear just seconds into the match on February 2 last year. His last fight was a TKO against Steffan Hughes in Berlin in the second round.
Rasani has an impressive fighting pedigree, clashing with some of the best in the business, including Dillian Whyte, Lucas Browne and Tony Bellew.
Last June Mr Shaw, who trains fighters of all ages and abilities at his Sherriff Street gym, emerged triumphant with a points victory over Adam Harris in Swindon, despite having a broken hand throughout the bout and breaking the other hand in the fight itself.
