Businesses across the city were full of ladies wearing extravagant dresses and hats despite the overcast weather.

Those who had tickets to the sold out event enjoyed a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day as the rain held off.

The first race saw two horses fall on the final straight to the disappointment of the crowd.
