A FAMOUS television comedian who has appeared on shows including Mock the Week climbed to the top of the Malvern Hills where he joked he was 'in Wolverhampton'.

Mark Steel scaled the Worcestershire Beacon, the highest peak of the Malvern Hills, as part of his show - Mark Steel's in Town - to be broadcast soon.

Upon reaching the summit, the comedian tweeted: "I’ve had a delightful day in Wolverhampton City Centre."

The photo, taken by Carl Cooper of the Malvern Hills Trust, was taken on a guided visit of the Malvern Hills Trust offices and a walk up to Worcestershire Beacon.

A spokesperson for the trust said: "Mark had researched the Malvern area extremely well and wanted to include a ‘conservator’ in his show Mark Steel’s in Town.

"This led to the Trust’s Vice Chair David Core and CEO Deborah Fox contributing to the recording of the show at Malvern Theatre on May 22. We understand the show will be broadcast on July 1."
