A DRUG dealer is due in court and three further arrests have been made following a crackdown as officers acted on complaints about dealing around the corner from the police station.
Police officers acted on intelligence from the community about reports of drug dealing in Moor Street in Worcester, just around the corner from Worcester Police Station in Castle Street.
One suspect - Scott Lannie - is due in court for sentence next month but other arrests have also been made as West Mercia Police warns that dealers who ply their trade will be put out of business.
DS Kris Stevens of South Worcestershire Proactive CID said officers had responded to activity in the road with Scott Lannie due to be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on June 13 for possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.
Scott Lannie, of Back Lane South, Worcester, has admitted the offences which happened on April 9.
The 34-year-old was arrested and remanded in custody following a police raid after the community raised concerns to officers.
Three more arrests were made yesterday (Tuesday) for drugs offences/being concerned in the supply of drugs. Officers have yet to reveal the type of drugs involved but devices have been seized as part of an ongoing investigation.
DS Stevens said: "Enquiries are ongoing. This is part of our ongoing crackdown to combat localised drug-related issues. The community raised concerns and we acted on that information.
"We have raised our profile around the area."
The officer, based at Worcester Police Station in Castle Street, explained the arrests were made following joint work between plain clothes officers and others from the Safer Neighbourhood Team.
Officers had also been going door-to-door, offering reassurances to residents in the wake of police action.

DS Stevens said: "We encourage anyone with any concerns around drugs to report it. We will act on intelligence from the community. Issues had been building in this part of Worcester and we hope to provide reassurance, not only for that community but for all other communities that have been subjected to this type of criminality. We can only work off people reporting this type of activity.
"We need the public to report it."
We reported earlier this month on an unrelated case which also illustrates the importance of up-to-date intelligence from the community - and how it can lead to arrests and charges and, ultimately, prison sentences.
Hazrat Usman was one of three people arrested at the Commandery Service Station in Bath Road in Worcester earlier this year after a member of the public called in suspicious activity.
The 21-year-old of Rose Avenue, Tolladine, Worcester, who was pictured grinning in his police custody photo, was jailed for 28 months at Worcester Crown Court on May 3 for being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin.
We previously reported how three men were arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs after a car was stopped at Bath Road petrol station on Tuesday, March 26.
