Councillors are set to decide whether a cocktail bar can extend its opening hours.

TwentyTwo, which is preparing to open in the former home of Be The Change in New Street, wants to open every day between the hours of 7am and 3am, selling alcohol and playing recorded music throughout the day.

Its current licence limits the sale of alcohol to between 10am and midnight, Monday to Saturday and midday to 11.30pm on Sunday.

Residents of nearby almshouses have raised concerns about the proposed extended opening hours, but a spokesperson for TwentyTwo said the venue would attract “a sophisticated clientele”.

Members of the city council’s licensing sub committee will decide on the application on Wednesday, May 22.
