WORCESTER Bridge was closed this morning due to a concern for a person's welfare. 

West Mercia Police officers closed off the main bridge across the city at 9.45am - with it reopening an hour later.

The police-led incident had also had a fire rescue boat on the scene this morning (Monday).

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We were called to New Road in Worcester shortly after 9.30am this morning following a report of a concern for welfare. 

"Officers attended and assisted with ensuring the person involved was taken to safety."

The Bridge reopened at just after 10.30am.
