STAFF at a popular city café will be "bringing tissues in" as it prepares to open for an emotional final day this weekend.
Laura Kavanagh, who runs G&Tea in Friar Street, decided to call time on the business due to spiralling costs.
She will be opening the doors for one last time on Saturday, May 11, with tables fully booked on the day.
The 38-year-old, who has been at the helm of the business for five and a half years, said the final day will be a "mixture of sadness and relief."
She said: "We are going out with a bang. We have been really busy this week.
"It's sad but all good things must come to an end. All of the customers have been really sad.
"It's just too difficult for small businesses at the moment. It's just too hard.
"Tomorrow is going to be really emotional."
G&Tea has been a popular café in Worcester and has continually ranked in the top ten for restaurants in the city on Tripadvisor.
The café was also awarded the Tripadvisor's Travellers' Choice Award in 2023.
Customers voiced their sadness at the news of its closure on social media.
Alison May said: "Your afternoon tea is absolutely the best in Worcester. Really sad to see you going. All the best for whatever you do next."
Julie Barnes said it's the "best place in Worcester by far."
She said: "I think at some point I've sat at every table. Good luck for the future Laura and to your lovely staff too."
Laura Finnegan added: "Your afternoon tea is my absolute favourite and I’ve celebrated so many special occasions with you, you will be very missed."
Ms Kavanagh thanked customers for their support over the years.
She added: "I'm really grateful for the support and love I've had recently.
"I'm really touched by the nice things everybody has said about G&Tea."
