A MEMORIAL dedicated to a Worcestershire Formula One driver is to be unveiled at Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb.

Racing fans launched a campaign to fund, produce and erect a memorial of Peter Collins, who raced in F1 during the 1950s.

Collins, who was from Mustow Green, famously drove for Ferrari, winning three grand prix's before being tragically killed at the 1958 German Grand Prix.

Having managed to raise £15,000 to fund the project, a life-size bronze sculpture of Collins will be located at Shelsley Walsh.

The event of the unveiling will take place on May 6, which will feature some classic and modern cars, Peter Collins memorabilia and some special guests.

Those who are unable to attend the event are free to visit the memorial anytime after the unveiling.
