A FOUNTAIN of water is gushing onto the path in the aptly named Waterworks Road.

Residents living in the street in Worcester noticed a burst water main this morning (Wednesday).

Water was seen gushing out of a stop tap next to a fire hydrant over pavements and down the road itself where a huge puddle had developed by the back entrance to Gheluvelt Park.

Stuart Macdonald, who lives on Waterworks Road, said while the situation wasn't dangerous, it was forcing people to walk off the pavement to go around the leak.

"It is a stop tap next to a fire hydrant that was spotted this morning, although it has been ongoing since around 9pm last night," he said.

"We rang Severn Trent to notify them of the situation.

"There is water all over the pavement and chuckling down the road towards the bottom that lies next to the back entrance of Gheluvelt Park.

"I wouldn't say it is too dangerous but you would have to walk around it as you can't access the pavement.

"There is a drain that has been blocked up, which is why a huge puddle has developed but it is being taken away by another drain."

In an update on the situation, Severn Trent confirmed it has now resolved the leak on Waterworks Road.

A spokesperson from Severn Trent said: “We were alerted to a leakage issue in Waterworks Road this morning and immediately dispatched our inspection and repair teams. We quickly resolved the matter and everything is now back to normal.”
