A WORCESTER-born DJ who is a global name in his field is set to bring an immersive Boiler Room experience to the city.
Jake Phillips, who goes by the stage name Subshift, has played in countries like Belgium and Spain and will finally introduce his set to his home city.
The 25-year-old from Warndon Villages is welcoming party-goers to his immersive Boiler Room experience at Tramps Night Club this bank holiday weekend.
The experience is called Shifted Sessions and is based on the concept of an immersive 360-degree Boiler Room where the DJ is in the middle of the dance floor.
Mr Phillips said it is an experience he has always dreamed of bringing to Worcester and he believes it's one of the first to take place in the city.
"A DJ is usually known to be in the corner of the room and it's hard to interact with them," he said.
"A Boiler Room is where the DJ is in the middle of the dancefloor and is in close quarters with the crowd.
"They can watch and it is more intimate.
"There is no separation, which is nice and gives the feeling of a big festival."
Mr Phillips has played in venues such as Tomorrowland in Belgium, Ushuaia in Ibiza, and Ministry of Sound and Koko in London.
This will be one of the first times he will be playing in his hometown Worcester.
"It is really nice as I have a lot of friends and family watch me play and they will be all in one space.
"My sound is not UK-based, so bringing it to my hometown is very scary.
"The music style is different to what is going on in Worcester, and to my knowledge, there is nothing really in this subgenre of house/techno
Mr Phillips will perform alongside Umaedo, a French DJ producer, and five Worcester-based DJs.
The genres will predominantly be House, Tech House and Techno.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 4.
