Plans to build an office block on a car wash site at the back of Waitrose in Droitwich have been put forward.
Elite Car Wash has withdrawn its previous plan to build a three-storey market hall and cafe with access via Saltway.
It now wants to build a block of six self-contained offices instead, although the existing car wash facility will remain on the site.
There are three buildings currently on the site - a steel frame used for the car wash, a staff room and a storage building - and the business is accessed between Waitrose and Just For Pets.
Fresh proposals submitted to Wychavon District Council say the new building will be two storeys in height, and rotated 90 degrees compared to the previous plan to cover the footprint of the building that would be demolished.
Designer Michael Brown says materials will match the building’s surroundings and there will be no steel frame cladding or balconies.
The old plan would’ve seen a new car wash take up the ground floor of a new three-storey building.
Shops, offices and a cafe or deli had been planned for the top two floors - and the scheme was hoped to bring some 20 new jobs to the area.
