A WORCESTER resident has described the "miracle" story of how his severely injured cat was rescued by his neighbours cat.
Martin Harris, from Claines in Worcester, was left concerned when his four-year-old cat, Kaiju, went missing on Monday evening.
Mr Harris said it was unusual for Kaiju. who is a tabby, to not return home after a lengthy period.
Thirty-six hours passed without Mr Harris or his partner Michelle knowing his whereabouts, when they were left gobsmacked when Kaiju staggered from the garden with the help of their neighbour's cat, Buddy.
"On Monday night Kaiju went missing," said Mr Harris.
"He's usually out no later than 9.30pm and often sleeps in the kitchen, but he didn't return for 36 hours.
"Michelle asked me to sleep downstairs in case he came back. That's when she was saying 'he's not come back, where is he?'.
"Then the next night I was lying on the sofa watching television, I'd left the patio door open.
"Buddy, my neighbour's cat, came to the patio and I said 'Buddy where is he?'.
"He was looking out towards the garden and that's when Kaiju came in."
Mr Harris said all of Kaiju's fur was matted on his belly and had suffered injuries to his face, including a broken jaw.
He added: "I shouted upstairs 'Kaiju's back, he's injured'.
"He had a swollen eye and a blooded nose so the vet had him overnight.
"There's a six-foot fence at the bottom of the garden and somehow Buddy had managed to get him over it - he was a hero.
"It's a miracle that it happened."
Mr Harris believes it was the "power of animals understanding each other" that was behind this unbelievable outcome.
He has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for Kaiju's operation fees and has already received £610 of the £1000 target, calling donators "really wonderful."

"We went to see Kaiju on Wednesday night. Michelle was upset because he kept turning away as if he didn't want to show how poorly he was.
"I stroked his ear and that's when he gave a look of 'I'm going to be okay'.
"He had his second operation today (Friday) so he's staying there over the weekend."
Mr Harris said Kaiju helped his partner Michelle through a difficult period when she fell ill in October 2022, never leaving her side.
