A former church rector has published his latest novel centering around the area.
David H Martin's fifth novel, Jessica’s Vineyard, is described as a "thriller, a romance and a love letter to wine and location", with the book set in Herefordshire’s Golden Valley.
The plot revolves around recently-divorced Jessica Pope, who puts her alimony to work by purchasing a vineyard to begin a new rural life, which poses more challenges than she anticipated.
Moreover, an ominous presence seems intent on her downfall, leading her away from hoped-for country serenity towards dangerous terrain that leaves her life at risk.
The novel highlights not just the struggles of starting over, but also the complexities of producing wine.
Martin, who is married and a father to four, worked as a rector at All Saints Church from 1975 to 1981, and currently lives in retirement in Malvern.
The novel ranges in price from £5.99 for an e-book to £20 for a hardback.
