A CARNIVAL atmosphere descended on a country pub as clowns and strongmen proved a hit at a circus-themed party which put a smile on everybody's face after a flood battle.
The Camp House Inn at Grimley was transformed into something beautiful and bizarre as 'all the fun of the fair' descended on the riverside country pub, lightening the mood after previous floods.
After floods at the pub this New Year, staff and customers were always going to be looking for something that put a smile back on their faces - and this certainly happened on Saturday when the sun shone on the party.
The day was in support of Acorns Children's Hospice, bringing in £80 on the day itself but with more money coming in all the time.
There were circus-style tents, a duck shoot, archery and hoops as customers and staff got into the spirit with fancy dress. A 'Wellie Wanging competition' was postponed due to the water-logged ground.
Customers had the chance to win token prizes and eat popcorn and candy floss.
Despite heavy rain the water receded off the pub car park in time for the event and, as a result, organisers called it 'fabulous fun in the sun' and issued a thank you via the pub's Facebook page to everyone who took part.
Barmaid Nadine Farmer said the plan had the been to have the 'all the fun of the fair' event on New Year's Eve but at that time the pub had been flooded so the decision was taken to roll the rescheduled party in with the Easter weekend to make the most of the fine weather.
The event was billed as 'Happy New Year's Easter' as the postponed party finally got underway.

She said: "We had a good turnout - we had people indoors and out. It was a great day and fun was had by all.
"It was a nice atmosphere and we need more events like this. We need everybody to keep on coming down and supporting the events really."
Fundraising for Acorns is still ongoing and people are welcome to visit the pub and make donations to boost the grand total.
The Camp House flooded on Saturday, December 30, the water seeping up from beneath the tiles in the dart room after Worcestershire was battered by two storms.
Storm Henk arrived hot on the soggy heels of Storm Gerrit and quickly the water breached their defences, flooding the lower floor of the pub.
The pub staff have been known for their adaptability, including putting on a ferry service when the car park floods.
