ROY Booker’s photo below of the centre of Ronkswood in 1989 from Lichfield Avenue with the Punchbowl pub and the distinctive Holy Trinity and St Matthew’s Church.
The same location in 2024 below with the main difference being the loss of the church, known as The Drum, which was demolished in 2015 after becoming structurally unstable.
It has been replaced by housing known as Manchester Terrace which keeps up the estate’s consistency for having roads named after cities.
