A MALVERN homeowoner said it was lucky no-one was killed after a car crashed into his house.
Darren Rabin, who lives in Lower Howsell Road, was woken up by a "loud bang" in the early hours of Monday morning when a car crashed into his property.
The incident happened at around 12:15am when a silver Ford C-max lost control approaching a T-junction along Church Road before ploughing into Mr Rabin's vehicle on his driveway.
The crash left Mr Rabin's car with significant damage, as well as the porch to his front door.
"The driver was supposed to be turning left but went straight across the road and smashed bang into my car," said Mr Rabin.
"It woke me up. I heard a loud bang and looked out of the window and then came down.
"I looked outside and saw them scarpering up the road. A couple of my neighbours were immediately on to the police.
"I think it has left my home with structural damage, but I don't know the extent until the surveyors come round - but I expect it to be major."
Mr Rabin expects his car to have been written off.
"Without the car parked on the drive they would have gone straight through the house and killed someone.
"You can replace cars but you can't replace people."
P J Kennard, a neighbour of Mr Rabin, witnessed the incident unfold.
"I heard the run up to the crash, I heard a car racing which I thought was strange as we don't get much traffic at that time," he said.
"I called the police and stayed with Darren while the fire brigade and police sorted it out."
Chris Rice, a local postman and Mr Rabin's nephew in law, said the driver of the car "made no effort to stop at the junction" and that after hitting the parked car, they fled the scene.
"There is some vague CCTV of them running off from a neighbour about 10 houses down who heard the collision from his house," he added.
"Darren is very reliant on his car."
West Mercia Police said: "At around 12:15am on Monday 25 March we responded to a report of a car that had collided with a stationary car on Lower Howsell Road in Malvern, Worcestershire.
"No injuries were reported, and no arrests were made."
