EXCITED shop staff have seen their hours of hard work pay off as their window displays are up for a national award.
The team at Cornucopia in Crowngate shopping centre has been recognised as a finalist in The Great Gift Retailer Awards 2024 for their exceptional in-store window displays.
The shop is owned and operated by mother and daughter duo Clare Bishop and Hannah Bishop with the shop having spent 40 years - albeit at different locations in Worcester.
Mrs Bishop said: "We are very excited and it is a privilege to be chosen among so many other great companies.
"It is just nice to get the recognition for all of the hard work that goes into the way it looks.
"It is a big team effort and our staff also have a huge input.
"It's a boost to us after we survived lockdown and everything that went with it."
Despite being a finalist, the duo still have no idea who nominated them for the award, thinking that it was most likely one of their loyal customers.
Mrs Bishop continued: "We refresh them quite often and change them every season.
"We are quite lucky because we have five windows and the window displays often bring customers in.
"When making the displays it can take hours.
"It depends because a lot of thought goes into it.
"We often start off with a mood board and try to add interest depending on ongoing trends.
"We put things together and plan, we sometimes gather items in the stock room and practise and build a picture that way."
The mother and daughter duo have been running the shop for nearly ten years after the business was first opened in 1985.
The shop stocks gifts and home décor from British brands as well as products with Danish influence that originated with the founders of the business.
This is the second award that the shop could win after getting the crown as Britain's best small shop and best window displays in 2020 by The Great Gift Retailer Awards.
They are one of six entries in the category from across the UK and which includes a second Worcestershire shop Mooch which has stores in Bewdley and Stourport on Severn.
The winners will be announced on Thursday, May 16 in London.
