There was laughter at the Guildhall on Thursday when long-time political rivals found themselves in agreement.
Tory councillor Alan Amos and Labour stalwart Richard Udall shared similar concerns over a planning application for the Myriad Centre in Barbourne.
“Please do not get used to this fact, but I find myself in agreement with Cllr Amos,” said Cllr Udall, to laughter from members of Worcester City Council’s planning committee. “It doesn’t happen very often.
“There is clearly a social benefit here but that does not help those who have objected.”
The two councillors were both worried about the impact of the proposal on parking in the area.
Councillors eventually approved the plans on the condition the centre pays for a residents' parking scheme.
