A MAN has been rescued after being up to their waist in "mud and water" near a river bank in Worcester.
Fire crews along with water first responders and boat crews were called to the incident in Portland Street at 5:28am this morning (Thursday).
The incident was described as an "unstable surface" where a male casualty was up to his waist in mud and water near the river bank.
The man was rescued by the water first responder using a sled after being secured with a throw line and flotation device.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Droitwich Fire Station along with water first responders from Malvern and boat crews from Worcester and Evesham were called at 05:28 on 21 March to a rescue from an unstable surface in Portland Street.
"A male casualty was up to his waist in mud and water near the river bank and was secured using a throw line and a flotation device before being rescued by the water first responder team using a sled.
"He was then left in the care of the ambulance service (log 591) who attended along with police (log 44i).
"The incident was marked as pending closure at 06:13."
West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the incident and said the person was discharged after not wishing to be assessed by a paramedic.
"We were called to reports of a patient in the water near to Willow Street at 5.44am, one ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene," they said.
"On arrival we discovered a man, who did not wish to be assessed and we were discharged from the scene."
