THIS week’s theme for the Worcester News’ Sports Replay series takes us way back to the 1940s and 50s into youth-team football in Worcester.
Yes, these photos are in black and white and very old but, you never know, you might be able to identify one or some of those involved in the two images we have.
The first, the more zoomed-in image, is of the Holy Trinity youth team back in 1958, a side who played in the Worcester Youth League.
Here are the names, from the back (left to right): Alan Griffiths, Dave Price, Fred Raw, Billy Goode, Michael Williams and John Cole.
Front row: Keith Morris, Eddie Newman, Benny Blighe, Colin Morris and Johnny Cook.
The other image, of the younger-looking individuals, is the Worcester City school boys' team 10 years prior to our other image in 1948 and this was taken at St George’s Lane, the old home of Worcester City.
Back row (left to right): John Stone, Jim Roberts, John Spilsbury, Derek Mann, Alan Greenwood, Dickie Passey and Fred Jackson.
Front row: Ken Portman, Graham Avery, Tony Candline, Gerry Kaiser and Dave Last.
