A Worcester councillor has questioned why the UK doesn’t have a scheme to help house Palestinian refugees.
City councillors discussed an update on the Homes for Ukraine scheme in the Guildhall on Wednesday (March 13).
Cllr Neil Laurenson picked out part of a report that says the scheme “will help to fulfill the UK’s humanitarian duties to assist those fleeing war”.
“So I look forward to seeing the Palestinian homes scheme,” he said. “I’ll look forward to that one, or perhaps it won’t be within this government’s time.
“There does seem to be a strange and very insulting level of hypocrisy there.”
