A LARGE emergency services presence was called to a city bridge amid concerns for the welfare of a man seen there.
Police, firefighters, paramedics, a Hazardous Area Response Team and water first responders rushed to the A4440 which was closed causing tailbacks.
The man, in his 30s, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital following the incident last night (Thursday) which closed the A4440 Temeside Way between Ketch and Powick Roundabout.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "At around 5.40pm yesterday (March 14), we were called to a concern about the welfare of a man on Carrington bridge in Worcester.
"Following support for officers the man was taken away from danger where he was passed into the care of appropriate services."
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.46pm to an incident nearby to Bath Road, Worcester.
"One ambulance, a specialist paramedic and Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) paramedics attended the scene.
"Upon arrival, we found a man who was assessed by ambulance staff and was conveyed to hospital for further assessment."
A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service added: "Two HWFR crews from Worcester Fire Station plus boat crews from Worcester and Evesham along with the water first responders from Droitwich were called at 5.43pm on March 14 to the Carrington Bridge on the A4440 Temeside Way in Worcester where a person was threatening to jump.
"A man in his 30s was talked off the bridge to a safe place and left in the care of the police who attended along with the ambulance service.
"The road was closed in both directions.
"The incident was marked as pending closure at 7.05pm."
