Soul Connection at Malvern Cube for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven

The Soul Connection, a ten-piece classic soul band, will be appearing at The Cube in Malvern on Saturday, April 20.

Band member Lucy Whitcombe, who has personal experience of the unit, said: "No one ever wants to have to walk through the doors of WBUH. Speaking from experience. 

"It's a bright, comfortable space where the team make sure that what needs to happen, happens.

"They look after you, whether it's answering questions, making you a cup of tea, arranging rehabilitation or explaining the medical stuff as many times as is needed, and they do it, day in day out, for anyone and everyone that [unfortunately] needs it and they do it with compassion, patience, a smile and a hug.

"In what was one of the worst and hardest experiences anyone could encounter, the team made it bearable and the support was and still is something I will forever be grateful and cannot thank them enough.

"I'm really proud of every single member of this band, normally when you say gig, and free in the same sentence to a musician, eyes roll and there is much sighing - rightly so.

"Not one of them questioned it but every single one of them has fully supported me in this when I put it to them.  

"They are a talented bunch and they didn't hesitate in offering their talent, time or effort in making sure this is a success.

"They all understand the importance of the work that the unit does and we want to raise as much awareness and money for them as we possibly can."

Worcestershire Breast Unit is based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and is the breast cancer charity for the county.

It provides practical and emotional support to women and men of Worcestershire with their breast care needs, working closely with the NHS specialist breast care team.
