The University of Worcester is proud to once again be a sponsor of the Worcestershire Education Awards, recognising the outstanding commitment of the headteachers, teachers, support staff and volunteers who work tirelessly in our schools, colleges, universities and other educational settings.
Schools and education have been at the heart of our work since our foundation in 1946. As one of the country’s 10 biggest providers of teacher training, the University is at the forefront of educating caring and insightful professionals.
In May 2023, Ofsted published a glowing report following an inspection of Worcester’s Initial Teacher Training, rating our primary and secondary programmes as ‘Outstanding’.
The inspectors stated that, along with its partners, the University creates “a learning community that places children at the heart of everyone’s endeavours”.
The report opens: “Trainees benefit from an exceptional learning experience at the University of Worcester. This experience instils in them a deep-rooted commitment to making a difference to the lives of the children in the communities they serve.”
We know the difference that excellent educators make to our children and young people’s futures. Whether in school, college or university, a great teacher can shape who we are; can open our minds; help us to learn about the world and importantly, about ourselves.
We believe passionately in the ability of education to transform lives. Our students and graduates make a huge contribution to society and we are very proud of them.
Our thanks go to all our partners in schools, colleges, voluntary and private sectors who give mentoring, placements and support to our students.
These awards celebrate the very many brilliant people in our education settings who work so hard every day.
