Rural Media, a Hereford-based charity, is actively searching for young trustees aged between 16 to 24 to join and diversify its board.

The opportunity will allow young individuals from Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Shropshire, and Powys to influence the operation of Rural Media by bringing fresh perspectives.

Interested potential trustees are invited to a drop-in session at Packers House on Friday, March 15 between 4pm and 6pm to glean more information about the trustee role.

Nic Millington, Rural Media CEO, said: "We’re particularly keen to hear from applicants with diverse experiences of rural life, while a passion for the arts and media is a must."

The deadline for applications is Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 6pm, with interviews scheduled between April 8 and 18.

Its latest project involves refurbishing its HQ Packers House, located centrally in Hereford, into a digital media centre.

This initiative follows a successful bidding to the Government's Stronger Towns Fund, showing its dedication to supporting and training creative entrepreneurs and communities across Herefordshire and its surrounding areas.

Founded more than 30 years ago, Rural Media has built a reputation both locally and nationally for narrating stories from unheard voices and nurturing creative talent.

The charity caters to some of the most isolated and disadvantaged groups in the country, such as people with disabilities, homeless youth, Gypsies, Roma, and Travellers, alongside those experiencing domestic or relationship abuse.

Rural Media Charity also sustains Rural Studios, its commercial arm operating in Herefordshire.

This professional TV production facility develops a range of content from music videos to TikTok style shorts with the income generated getting invested back into the Rural Media charity.
