An indepent bookshop is set to launch a brand new festival during the May half term.

Script Haven, in Worcester, will host the CreARTivity Festival from Sunday, May 26 to Friday, 31.

It will showcase a mix of literature, music, and art, featuring both family-friendly and evening events, as well as collaborations with other independent shops in the city.

Authors such as Guy Hale, Carla Kovach, Charley Barnes, Abigail Osborne, the Antipoet and The Periwinkle Perspective all feature in the lineup.

Venues such as Spin the Black Circle and Sugar Daddies will host events as part of the festival.

There's plenty on in the bookshop before the festival, as it already houses two long-standing open-mic events - Dear Listener by Charley Barnes, running for six years, and 42Worcester, which has been running for 13 years.

Furthermore, renowned author Louise Fein is expected to launch her latest novel, The London Bookshop Affair, at the shop in March.

Come April, TM Logan will be launching his recent novel Dream Home.

The bookshop also acted as the official bookseller at the Simon Armitage event at the Hive earlier this month.

The shop's owner Leena Batchelor said: "I'm astounded and proud at how quickly we've become the haven for the creative community of Worcester, as well as being able to provide opportunities for everyone to engage with the benefits of creativity in an accessible and loving environment.

"The support we've received has been wonderful, and we're looking forward to even more exciting developments through the year."

In addition to running the bookshop, Batchelor is also a one-time Worcestershire Poet Laureate (2020-21), the current Poet-in-Residence for the Commandery, and a Spoken Word artist.

Passes for the week-long festival are currently available on We Got Tickets (https://www.wegottickets.com/ScriptHaven), with individual day passes and tickets to be sold at the door to be released soon.
