PEOPLE walking in Worcester Woods Country Park may come across something rather peculiar on their travels.
Little Lodge Nursery, on Swinesherd Way in Worcester, came up with a creative idea to celebrate this year's World Book Day on March 7.
As well as all of the children and staff dressing up as their favourite characters, the nursery wrapped and hid books in the Country Park woods for other children to find.
The idea was for children to share and enjoy the magic of books and language with their nearest and dearest.
"In the nursery, every year we celebrate World Book Day by dressing up, but for this year we decided to do something to take into the local community," said Little Lodge Nursery's manager Vicki Turrell.
"We have left books out there for people to read and enjoy - it's a bit of a small gesture back to the community.
"We take the children to the countryside centre all the time, so we took the books and placed them around the woods in prominent places for children to find.
"We saw children on the play area that were all very excited to see the books being placed."
Mrs Turrell revealed one of the books had already been found by one of the nursery's own children after they went for a walk around the woods.
"One of the nursery children went for a walk on their favourite route and sent a picture of them finding the book, saying they were super-chuffed to have found one," she said.
"The books we have placed are just general books but with bears in them. Our logo has a bear in it so all the books are bear related.
"All of the children and staff dressed up as well and brought in their favourite books. All of the activities were based on different books, so we thought it would be a nice idea.
"We are passionate about reading and helping educate the children, it forms part of what we do.
"We hope to spark a child's love for books and stories. We have a book bank to encourage parents to look through a book, take one and then put it back and swap it for another one."
