A MAN arrested in his hospital bed for causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal crash at Hanley Castle has not been charged with the offence.
A man died and another was seriously injured in the crash on the B4211 Worcester Road at The Rhydd near Hanley Castle at 5.30am on Tuesday, January 23.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said in a previous statement: "One man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is currently in hospital with serious injuries."
A white Mercedes C220 and a white Ford Mondeo collided on the B4211 Worcester Road opposite Rhydd Gardens, near Hanley Castle.
The driver of the Mondeo, a 37-year-old man, died of his injuries. The driver of the Mercedes was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision or have dash-cam footage of it, or of either of the vehicles driving in the minutes before the collision."
