A HEADTEACHER fears a "serious incident" happening outside the school gates after ongoing issues with traffic and flooding.
Claines CE Primary School on School Bank has warned that a serious incident may occur outside the school if action is not taken to solve flooding and traffic concerns.
Speeding, inappropriate overtaking and flooding from local fields onto the road have made it challenging for those using the school.
Simon Gent, headteacher of Claines CE Primary School, said: "Since we lost our crossing patrol several years ago, we have had a number of near misses outside school, especially where cars are overtaking other cars that have stopped to let children cross.
"This is due to there being no signage on the highway to clearly indicate a school crossing.
"The blocked drainage along School Bank means that when we have heavy rainfall, a stream forms on the road, making it even more difficult for children to cross and causing pedestrians to get soaked from passing traffic."
On Friday, Mr Gent met up with county councillor Marc Bayliss and police and crime commissioner John Campion in an attempt to find a solution to the issues and reduce the risk to the school community.
Cllr Bayliss had tried to help in the past by adding yellow lines and signs to the road, but concerns have remained.
It has led many residents to want to know what more can be done to make it safer for children to cross, Cllr Bayliss has said.
"While there are no easy solutions here, I really believe that if the councils and the PCC work together, we can improve the situation for children, parents, and residents," said Cllr Bayliss.
"I am also grateful to John Campion for attending the site and pledging support to help reduce the risk to all road users.
"I am keen to hear from any other local residents about any other ideas they may have to address the challenges here."
A spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council said: "Worcestershire County Council is liaising with the local county councillor, Marc Bayliss and will carry out a feasibility study for a pedestrian crossing at this location.
"The council will also work with partners and landowners regarding any flooding issues."
