THERE were celebrations at the city's newest school which "wants the best for its pupils" after it received its first Ofsted rating.
North Worcester Primary Academy opened officially in 2019 and is thrilled to receive its first rating.
The school in John Comyn Drive was rated Good by Ofsted and was praised for building positive relationships between staff and pupils.
The Ofsted report said: "The school has high expectations of pupils and wants the best for them. This includes pupils with complex additional needs.
"Staff work diligently to tailor support to ensure all pupils achieve well.
"Staff are overwhelmingly positive about working at North Worcester Primary. They feel supported and valued. They feel well looked after and want to stay at the school.
The report also recognised the school is new, and as it continues to grow, it will continue to build an effective partnership with parents, who also share positive views of the school.
Headteacher Stuart Grimes said: "This is a fantastic achievement for our school community.
"It is a testament to the hard work and passion everyone has in ensuring the children we serve flourish and have the very best experiences."
The school is part of the Rivers CofE Academy Trust.
North Worcester Primary Academy was given a few areas to improve for example the school's expectations of some pupils with SEND are too low, particularly for those who struggle to regulate their behaviour, according to inspectors.
On occasion, a small number of pupils are allowed to regularly disengage from the lesson, which limits their progress.
The school also needs to ensure that all leaders have the skills, knowledge and opportunity to monitor and evaluate their areas of responsibility.
The Ofsted report also added: "There are some minor inconsistencies in provision in the early years, including in curriculum implementation and expectations of behaviour.
"This means that some children do not get off to the strongest start possible.
"The school should ensure a consistency of approach in the early years through regular monitoring and evaluation."
Ofsted inspected the school on February 6 and 7.
