Neighbours on "scary" moment after woman found dead in Worcester

A murder investigation has been launched after a 61-year-old woman was found dead in Haresfield Close in Warndon, Worcester, while another woman is currently fighting for her life in hopsital. 

An investigation is being carried out at the scene. (Image: SWNS)A man aged 50 has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after the incident took place yesterday evening (Saturday).

Andrew Fowler has lived in the cul-de-sac his whole life and said the street has always been quiet.

"I was in bed, and at about 7.45pm, I saw all the lights flashing from my window, and I had a look, and there was an ambulance and police, and they were holding blankets out as they were obviously working on someone," he said.

"When you all live in the same street, it is not a very nice thing. 

"This is a good street, it's always been a good street. 

"I knew the family well and they are all good people - they were a lovely family."

A large emergency service presence was seen on the residential road last night following the death of the woman.

Another neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "I never expected something like this to happen.

"I've lived here for 42 years and walk around the estate with my dog.

"I've not heard anyone say it's a bad area.

One resident who was watching TV at the time said he saw the blue flashing lights shine through his living room window.

He said he was shocked to discover someone had died.

Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding of the Murder Investigation Unit said: "I understand that incidents of this nature can be alarming, but I would like to reassure the local community that this was an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.

"You will notice a higher police presence in the area in the coming days as officers investigate this incident.

"Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has sadly lost her life."
