A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Worcester.
A second woman is also in hospital fighting for her life after an incident on Haresfield Close in Worcester.
A man aged 50 has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
A large emergency service presence was seen on the residential road last night (Saturday) following the death of a 61-year-old woman.
The second woman, aged 38, was found with life-threatening injuries.
A witness said they saw a person being treated on the ground before an ambulance left the scene on blue lights. There were a large number of police vehicles, ambulances and a critical care team at the scene.
A police officer on the scene told onlookers it was 'an isolated incident' and nothing for the wider community to be concerned about.
The incident happened at 8.30pm.
Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding of the Murder Investigation Unit said: "I understand that incidents of this nature can be alarming, but I would like to reassure the local community that this was an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.
"You will notice a higher police presence in the area in the coming days as officers investigate this incident.
"Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has sadly lost her life."
