Plans have been announced for two new pieces of public artwork for Droitwich Spa Town Centre, and residents are being given a chance to play a part in the design process.
The murals are slated for installation at Emms Haberdashery and The Talbot.
One of the murals will revolve around the town's history and heritage, while the other's theme will be more flexible.
A four-week public consultation has been initiated to gather views and capture ideas from residents in the area about what they would like to see depicted in the murals.
The ideas that are submitted as part of the consultation process will be discussed during a series of focus groups.
The focus groups will be undertaken with specific community groups and organisations to help the chosen artists come up with the designs.
Residents' input will serve as a crucial element in the design process, having proven successful in the Droitwich Spa Underpass Art Project, which saw seven underpasses turned into works of art.
The installation of the artwork is expected to be complete by April next year.
Wychavon and Droitwich Spa Place Board are collectively leading the project, funded via Wychavon’s share of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, part of the Government’s Levelling Up Agenda.
Matt Nicol, chair of Droitwich Spa Place Board, invited local participation saying: "We’re committed to making the high street a focus for the town and I’m really excited to hear what residents suggest for these two key locations, which will link nicely with the festoon lighting which was installed last year."
Cllr Richard Morris, executive board member for economic growth and tourism on Wychavon District Council, said: “These artworks will be a fantastic addition to Droitwich Spa High Street and provide another reason to come and explore all our wonderful town has to offer.
“The success of the Droitwich Underpass Art Project was built on the involvement of the community, so I urge people to get involved and help us create something amazing for our town centre.”
Residents can contribute their ideas at www.wychavon.gov.uk/DroitwichStreetArt, with the deadline for responses being March 24.
