Worcester Court: Defendants who appeared for drink driving

Drink and drug driving normally attracts a compulsory driving ban and usually results in a hefty fine.

Here are some of the drivers who were caught and appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court recently:

DAMIEN HANSON, of Cavendish Street, Worcester, admitted drug driving. 

Magistrates heard the 41-year-old was caught driving a Seat Leon in New Road, Worcester, on July 5 last year when the amount of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol - a breakdown of cannabis - in his system was above the legal limit. 

Hanson, who appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on January 19, was disqualified from driving for a year and fined £461. 

He was also ordered to pay £135 costs and £184 victim surcharge.

Hanson was given 28 days to pay the total amount of £780.

LUCAS ROGUSZKA, of Paddock Hill, Droitwich, admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

The 39-year-old committed the offence on June 17 last year in Worcester.

His case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report.

Roguska, who has unconditional bail, was told to return to Worcester Magistrates Court on February 29.

The case was heard on January 26.

ELISHA JACKSON, of The Rye Lea, Droitwich, was found guilty in her absence of drunk and disorderly. 

The court heard the 24-year-old committed the offence on September 17 last year in Barbourne Road, Worcester. 

Jackson was fined £220 and ordered to pay costs of £400, £88 victim surcharge. 

Magistrates ordered the full amount of £708 being paid in full within 28 days. 

The case was heard on January 29.

WILLIAN BRISTOW, of Carrock Fell, Worcester, admitted drug driving.

The court heard the 19-year-old committed the offence on May 4 last year in Worcester. 

Bristow was caught driving a Honda Civic on Castle Street, Worcester, when the amount of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (a breakdown of cannabis) in his blood was above the legal limit. 

Bristow was banned from driving for a year. He was also fined £280 and told to pay £135 costs and £112 victim surcharge.

The case was heard at the court on January 29.

CATHERINE RAE, of Roberts Street, Chorley, Lancashire, admitted drink driving. 

The court heard on February 6 that the 43-year-old had been drink driving a Peugeot on the Worcestershire section of the M5 on January 15 this year. 

Rae had 95 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit being 35mcg. 

Rae was given a 12-month community order with a requirement to complete 40 hours of unpaid work. 

The defendant was banned from driving for a year but was offered the chance to complete a drink-drive awareness course which will reduce the ban length by 23 weeks if successfully completed. 

Rae was also told to pay £135 costs and £114 victim surcharge. 

ISTEHSAN ULHAQ, of Merton Close, Worcester, admitted drug driving. 

The 25-year-old was caught driving a Nissan Qashqai on Rose Avenue, Worcester, on October 28, 2023. 

The proportion of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in Ulhaq's blood was above the legal limit. 

Ulhaq was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £250. 

The defendant was ordered to pay costs of £135 and £100 victim surcharge.
