THE ideal party night for people who like to hit the dancefloor but be back in bed for 9pm has arrived in Worcester.
Drummonds in New Street has kickstarted a Daytime Disco for those who want to dance the night away without having to stay up until the early hours of the morning.
Running from 4pm to 8pm, Wyvern FM's Owen Lowe is in charge of the tunes, playing anything that would fit into the category of traditional disco.
Having started on Saturday, February 17, the event will take place on the first Saturday of each month.
To create some buzz for the event, Drummonds gave away the first 50 tickets, and afterwards it is £3 for entrance.
The crowd at the event varied in age range, with most being around the 25 to 30 mark, however it is suitable for those slightly older, as a group of friends went to the disco to celebrate one of their 60th birthdays.
Bar owner Richie Morse said: "There are so many places in town that do bottomless brunched and when that finishes they've got nowhere to go.
"We're trying to piggyback off that industry and get people back on the dancefloor."
The event included giveaways such as T-shirts and glitterball key rings as well as drinks deals, such as buy one get one free on glasses of prosecco.
The opening of this disco comes off the back of Silent Witness actress, Vicky McClure opening her own nightclub that is only open in the day in Sheffield.
Worcester has now been caught up in the wave, with daytime clubs popping up in London, Nottingham and South Wales.
In the future, Drummonds is looking to bring more and more DJs and special guests into the fold to spice up the party.
Though nothing has been set in stone, Mr Morse mentioned talks of a drag queen event and more DJs.
The next Daytime Disco will take place at Drummonds on Saturday, March 2 and has been advertised as a 'pay-day party' which will involve prizes games and giveaways.
