EXCITEMENT is in the air after the owners of an Italian restaurant destroyed by fire revealed the opening date of its new eatery.
The team at Benvenuti revealed it will be opening its new restaurant on Queen Street in Droitwich this week.
It will be moving into the former home of fellow Italian restaurant All'angelo's, which closed on Saturday, January 27.
The move comes after the Italian restaurant in Belle House on Bridge Street in Pershore revealed it would remain closed for 18 months while work continued at the building, which was severely damaged in the fire.
A spokesperson for Benvenuti said: "We are proud and excited to announce that Benvenuti in Droitwich will be opening on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
"This is an exciting new challenge for the team, but we are committed to preserving the restaurant's place at the heart of Droitwich's beautiful town and community for many years to come."
December's fire broke out in the early hours of the morning with seven fire engines called to the three-storey building.
The road had closed for several hours while neighbours were forced to evacuate their adjoining homes.
The restaurant has remained closed ever since, with customers and residents sharing their upset.
At the time, a Wychavon District Council spokesperson said: "Our hearts go out to Benvenuti Belle House, Pershore, we're sending them all our heartfelt sympathies."
The team at All'angelo announced they were closing after three and a half years in Droitwich.
A Facebook post to customers said: "Dear our valued customers, it has been a pleasure for these three and a half years.
"But after giving it some thought, we have chosen to close for good on January 27.
"Until then, we would be really appreciative of any bookings. We will always be grateful for all your custom over the years. Angelo x"
Over 100 messages were left by customers sad to read the restaurant was closing.
