Worcester Lions and Worcester Rotary Club have partnered up to recycle unwanted spectacles for use in the developing world.
Worcester Lions gathers roughly 10,000 pairs of spectacles annually from collection boxes placed around the city at various locations like opticians and pharmacies.
The collected glasses are then sent to a central Lions facility in Birmingham where they are sorted.

From there, a selection of reusable glasses are dispatched to developing countries - which have recently included nations across the world, such as Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Nigeria and Nepal.
Glasses that cannot be reused are recycled to finance eye-care projects both in the UK and internationally.
In addition, Worcester Rotary Club collects unwanted spectacles each year from its members, tallying over 1,200 pairs so far this year.
These glasses are then handed over to Worcester Lions who facilitate reuse or recycling on behalf of the club.
