A BUSY city car park is set to close temporarily so an 18-foot-high ash tree can be removed.
King Street car park, off Sidbury, will close so the tree near the entrance of the car park can be removed safely.
The tree is afflicted by the ash dieback fungus and needs to be removed to avoid the danger of its branches falling.
The City Council will work with the Worcester Environmental Group to re-use the timber from the tree as part of a play area project.
While the car park is closed, some maintenance work on other trees will also take place.
This will create more space for the City Council’s cleaning vehicles to be able to cleanse the car park more thoroughly.
The 110-space car park will close at 11.59pm on Tuesday, February 6 to 1pm on Wednesday, February 7.
No cars will be allowed to enter the car park during this time.
