PLANS to turn part of a former chocolate shop and café into flats have been revealed.

Chocolate Deli Coffee and Patisserie closed in April last year and now part of the building on New Street may become flats.

A planning application submitted to Worcester City Council shows how the first two floors of the building could become two one-bedroom flats.

According to the plans, the ground floor will remain a commercial space with a kitchen and two bathrooms, but the retail area on the first floor will become one of the flats.

Floor two will then become the second one-bedroom flat.

On the application, the developer Umran Bashir said: The proposal is to create two high quality one bedroom city centre apartments.

"The apartments will be aimed at young professionals who work within the city centre boundaries, offering accommodation which is both safe and secure.

"The current need for these types of properties within the Worcester area is huge."

Chocolate Deli Coffee and Patisserie closed on April 15 after husband and wife team, Richard and Lisa Broomhead, retired.

The cafe offered themed afternoon teas and a variety of Belgian-style chocolates.

Despite the closure of the Worcester branch, the business still operates from the Jinney Ring Craft Centre in Hanbury, selling handmade chocolates.
