Four Birmingham restaurants have been named among the UK’s top 100 in a new list by SquareMeal.
The SquareMeal website says: “Each of the top 100 results are a unique combination of our own in-house critic-led opinions and thousands of diner votes.
“It’s this dual approach that makes our list incomparable, representing not only our professional opinion but thousands of real-life experiences that help to reinforce and bolster our final decisions.
“When we say this list is months in the making, we really mean it. We take huge care and pride in making sure only the very best in the industry find a place on the list, and have eaten at hundreds of restaurants over the past 12 months to whittle down the winners.”
Opheem features in the list in 16th place and is the only Birmingham restaurant to rank in the top 20.
Harborne Kitchen placed 37th and Tropea takes the 73rd spot while The Wilderness sits in 77th place.

One reviewer said: “A really amazing experience - all of the service was welcoming and professional. The food was fantastic, my personal favourite being the vegetable korma and potato dish with multiple textures and flavours of potatoes. I also had a lychee martini, this was honestly one of the nicest cocktails I've ever had.
“In addition, the wine choice was great, we opted for a bottle of pinot noir from the champagne region and it was perfect with the menu. I cannot recommend highly enough for an amazing experience and even more amazing food.”
Another said: “Amazing service, amazing food, by far the best michelin star resteraunt in Birmingham, highly recommended”.
