A STUDENT has been given a prestigious scholarship and earmarked as a potential future leader in the field of engineering.
RGS Worcester lower sixth student, Keira Higgins, proudly accepted the Arkwright Scholarship in Engineering during a ceremony in London.
The Scholarship, one of the most prestigious of its kind in the UK, recognised Keira's outstanding achievements after she was selected from more than a thousand entries nationwide.
The award recognises her academic excellence as well as her dedication and passion for Engineering.
Keira excelled in a highly competitive selection process and secured sponsorship from The RAF Charitable Trust, exhibiting her exceptional abilities and commitment to pursuing a career in Engineering.
The scholarship aims to inspire and empower students to become exceptional engineers.
Gwilym Batchelder, head of design technology at RGS Worcester, said: "We are immensely proud of Keira for her remarkable achievement in securing the Arkwright Scholarship.
"These scholarships play a crucial role in developing the next generation of talented engineers. Keira's success highlights her dedication and potential to make a lasting impact in the field of Engineering.”
The Design Technology department at RGS Worcester inspires pupils to explore Design and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) related careers.
RGS Worcester offers a GCSE in Engineering, as well as Design Technology GCSE, with the school keen to develop the engineers of the future.
Among its former pupils is Carl Arntzen, CEO of Worcester Bosch.
