IT IS official - Worcester is one of the best places to live in the UK 2024.

The Faithful City has ranked highly in The Telegraph's round-up of the top ten places to live in the United Kingdom.

The exclusive research ranked cities which offer the best combination of value for money and a high standard of living.

Savills and The Telegraph had teamed up to do the research and both had favoured the city immensely after it was scored seven out of ten.

The city had beat Exeter and Milton Keynes and in a more surprising turn of events, London had not even made the list.

In its round-up, The Telegraph said: "Worcester residents have Birmingham’s vast employment centre on their doorstep and yet can retreat at the end of the day back to its much smaller sister city, surrounding market towns and villages.

"They also pay far less for a house than those in the neighbouring Cotswolds. Worcester is also the top pick for the history buff.

"Georgian townhouses line the residential squares in the city centre, poised on the banks of the River Severn by the Worcester County Cricket Club ground and the racecourse.

"Schools are a draw too for families. Among Worcester’s primary and secondary schools, there’s an extensive collection of good and outstanding options.

"Worcester is also on the edge of arguably some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain. It is a short drive to the south and up into the hillside market town of Malvern and the Malvern Hills."
