THE Worcester News wants to highlight the fantastic contribution made to our local economy by apprentices like Ellie Steel.
Worcester-based Ellie works for Platform Housing Group as an apprentice and qualifications administrator.
She chose an apprenticeship route with Platform in 2018, studying business admin level three and winning Worcestershire's Advanced Level Apprentice of the Year in 2021.
Ellie gained a role at Platform and has continued her studies and career development in learning and development as well as supporting the company's apprenticeship programme.
She said: "I feel that, by completing my apprenticeships through Platform, it has allowed me to be able to work and learn while being paid as well as having exposure to other areas of the business that I may not have had the chance to see if I had got a job or a degree.
"This has also allowed me to learn so much more than just my qualifications."
In 2023 more than 4,000 newcomers started apprenticeships in Worcestershire with 2,000 aged 24 or younger.
In the lead-up to the 17th annual National Apprenticeship Week from Monday, February 5 until Sunday, February 11, the Worcester News is putting a spotlight on apprenticeships.
Whether it's those currently working towards an apprenticeship, somebody who has already completed an apprenticeship, the companies that offer so many placements or the apprenticeship providers they work with to build their skills for life.
We believe there are so many incredible stories that will shine a light on why apprenticeships are vitally important and the incredible work the providers and employers do to change lives.
The Worcester News wants to find 50 existing or previous apprentices that we can feature in our newspaper leading up to National Apprenticeship Week.
During the week we will run multiple pages of content featuring our 50 apprentices and the companies that employ them.
If you are a leading provider, large employer or a small business enterprise that offers apprenticeships in the area, we’d like to shine a light on you too.

All nominations are free. Any companies looking to get more involved can contact Carl Badham on 07766 774259.
