Beethoven classics will fill Worcester Cathedral when Worcester Festival Choral Society perform the composer's Mass in C in March.

The region's largest choir, flanked by 140 singers, a 33-piece orchestra, and eminent soloists, will showcase the masterpiece on Saturday, March 16 at 7.30pm.

The musicians credits include The Royal Opera, English Touring Opera, and Opera North.

In addition to Beethoven's work, the concert will include Richard Blackford's aesthetically penned 1996 cantata, Mirror of Perfection.

Soloists for the evening are soprano Susanna Fairbairn, mezzo-soprano Samantha Price, tenor Gwilym Bowen, and baritone Dominic Sedgwick.

The Meridian Sinfonia orchestra will accompany and Worcester Cathedral's director of music, Samuel Hudson, will conduct.

The choir's chair, Susan White, said: "There is something very special about hearing classical choral music performed live on this scale, in the Cathedral’s majestic surroundings.

"For this season-ending concert we have two, superb works from different eras in store, promising an outstanding experience."
