A burger establishment in Worcester has been named a finalist in the National Burger Awards 2024.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the awards and 16 restaurants from across the UK are finalists.
Burger Shop in Worcester is one of those finalists and the competition will see chefs from across the hospitality sector – including restaurants, pubs and street food traders – go head-to-head in a live cooking showdown to see whose signature burger creation will be named best in the UK.
The live cook-off event will take place at Big Penny Social in London on February 20 and the winner will be crowned.
There will be several other challenges taking place including a technical challenge that will see the chefs create a burger from a specific selection of ingredients supplied by event sponsors in a bid to be crowned Burger Chef of the Year.
They will also take part in a meat-free burger round and for the first time at the National Burger Awards a Freakshake Challenge will also take place with some restaurants going head to head.
Winners of every round will be chosen by a hand-picked panel of esteemed industry judges including former victors of the competition.
You can see the full list of finalists via the National Burger Awards website.
Genna Ash-Brown, editor of Dine Out Magazine, which organises and runs the awards, said: “A decade into this respected event and we are beyond proud to reveal our most exciting line-up yet.
“What better way to mark 10 years in the game than with our biggest competition to date? Expect top-notch banter from our host DJ BBQ, cheerful camaraderie from champion chefs and, of course, a bounty of burgers so good you’ll be salivating more than Pavlov’s dogs!
“It’s always a joy to offer such a platform to some of the UK’s finest culinary talent – all that’s left now is to find out who comes out on top. See you there!”
Burger Shop is praised on Tripadvisor for its “fantastic food” and has a 4.5 rating from 309 reviews.
One reviewer said: “Fantastic food delivered by a wonderful server (Sophie) who explained most burgers can be offered gluten-free!
“The fact that you can sort in the outside area (heated) and order food from both this place and the ramen place next door means there’s something for everyone!”
With a red heart emoji, another praised the restaurant saying: “It's so hard to find quality, well-cooked food anywhere these days. I have always raved about the burgers here and the sides are always amazing too.
“I have always put down to their small menu, keeping it small means they can put their time and effort into making sure that the things they do cook are genuinely good. My favourite place
“Burgers are always cooked well and food is always tasty, I love the seasonal changes and the specials board. Thank you Burger Shop”
