A MAN was arrested for attempted murder after a victim suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police are investigating what they describe as a serious assault which took place outside the Beauchamp Arms in Worcester Road on New Year's Eve night (Sunday, December 31).
West Mercia Police said officers were called to reports of an incident outside of the premises at 10.15pm and on arrival found a man, aged in his 60s, with life-threatening injuries.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A 52-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
We have been reporting this morning that the area was cordoned with a blue tent on the pavement before officers took it down and left the scene at lunchtime.
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Garner, said: “I understand incidents of this nature can be alarming, but I would like to reassure the local community that there is no wider risk to the public.
“We currently have one man in custody and we are not looking anyone else in connection with this incident.
“Officers will be in the area for the next couple of days whilst we carry out enquiries to form part of our investigation.”
