Festive shoppers got a surprise at Webbs Wychbold as a flash mob broke out into festive song with even the cleaner joining in.
Customers were delighted to hear the i-Sing Choir, led by Director Helen Jones, belting out several Christmas hits.
Starting in the food hall at 1pm, shoppers choosing their turkey were surprised to be suddenly serenaded by what appeared to be other fellow shoppers bursting into a rendition of Christmas Time and O Holy Night.
There followed a 30-minute performance outside the store before another secret flash mob in the Christmas department at 4pm.
Singer Sue Weston even posed as a store cleaner before joining in with a fabulous chorus of Fairytale of New York.
The final flash mob choir took place in The Enchanted Gardens – Neverland at 5pm, where visiting families enjoyed the perfectly apt Winter Wonderland.
The impending performance was kept so hush that only a handful of Webbs' staff were in on the secret.
Even Ed Webb, owner of Webbs, admitted he was kept in the dark about the exact details of when and where it was happening.
He said: “The iSing choir gave a truly superb performance throughout our Wychbold store and gardens on Saturday, surprising not just our customers but many of our staff, me included.
"It was very moving and the perfect way to kick off the festive celebrations.”
The iSing choir is active in eight locations across the county including Worcester.
Members from several groups came together to form the large flash mob choir that performed at Webbs over the weekend.
Helen Jones, the choir’s director, studied at Welsh College of Music and drama and has worked with the likes of Michael Ball.
She said: “We had an amazing day at Webbs spreading Christmas cheer to all the shoppers.
“Wearing fairy lights to sing in the Enchanted Gardens at the end of the day was unforgettable.
“I believe strongly that everyone has a voice and should have the opportunity to find it. We have so much fun and are always welcoming new members, so get in touch if you want to join in the fun.’
