The Bishop of Worcester’s car has been stolen from the city centre.
The car, a distinctive green VW Beetle, had been parked in Lion Court after the Right Reverend John Inge had bought it from his daughter.
But when he went to pick it up last Tuesday (December 5), the car had been stolen.
“It had no battery and had a crook lock on the steering wheel, so whoever took it must have worked quite hard to do so,” said Bishop John.
“I can only assume they towed it away or got it on the back of a flatbed.”
Bishop John is hoping that someone in the area may have seen the car being taken, or is able to spot it out and about if it is still in the area.
“It’s quite a distinctive car,” he said. “It’s a soft top and light green. I have leafleted the area but haven’t had any responses.
“I may have left it too late for anyone to find anything on their CCTV but you never know.
“The car isn’t worth a huge amount of money but [it being stolen] is such a bore.”
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police confirmed the theft had been reported.
“The crime was investigated as far as reasonably possible, but no suspect was identified,” they said.
“The case has been closed, however should further information become available this would be investigated.”
