Roads across the county were closed for flooding as heavy rain continued to batter Worcestershire over the weekend.

Flood water covered both sides of the A4133 at Ombersley, causing long tailbacks as drivers slowed down to navigate the water.

An eyewitness said: "Nothing is moving and some people are turning around and trying to go back.

"The road is congested as you drive down the hill by the dinosaur adventure golf course at Holt Heath."

Motorists were also pictured trying to get around flood waters on the A44 near Cotheridge.

In Worcester, the River Severn burst its banks leaving areas such as South Quay underwater.

Worcestershire Highways said Jubilee Bridge in Fladbury, near Pershore, was closed due to flooding as was Eckington Bridge.

Flood alerts have been issued by the Environment Agency, including for the River Severn in Worcestershire.

The agency said: "River levels are rising at the Bewdley river gauge as a result of recent heavy rainfall.

“We expect flooding to affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Highley to Tewkesbury. Locations affected are Stourport, Holt Fleet, Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke and Upton upon Severn.”
